As a recently-qualified lecturer at Wiltshire College Lackham, I have lived in Broad Town for only three years and so I am very much a newcomer to the village (and this area). However, as the first elected Parish Councillor in many years, I hope to bring a new skillset to the table, and to contribute to the council – and thus the village - in other ways, to compensate for the lack of local knowledge. For example, I much prefer to make a considered and informed decision after digesting a large amount of information, rather than an immediate gut-instinct decision. My impression so far is that this is a very pertinent characteristic for a councillor in any tier of local government. As a specialist in mathematics and electronics, I am logical, methodical, thorough and pragmatic – all are also useful characteristics for this new role.
